  10.      Welcome to a new level of connectivity convenience.  The Xircom Pocket
  11.      Ethernet Adapter II is the easiest-to-use Ethernet adapter available.
  12.      
  13.      Be sure to fill out and return your Product Registration Card and record 
  14.      your model and serial number on page ii of the Xircom User's Guide. 
  15.  
  16.      Please refer to your network operating system manual and your Xircom
  17.      User's Guide for instructions on installation of the drivers contained 
  18.      on this diskette.  This .DOC file contains information that may not
  19.      be in your User's Guide.

  22.      DRIVER NOTES
  23.      ------------
  24.      3Com 3+Share - Drivers for 3Com 3+Share are on the Xircom Bulletin 
  25.      Board System (BBS).  See below for BBS information.
  26.  
  27.      Artisoft LANtastic/AI - If you are using LANtastic/AI v4.0, you 
  28.      will need to upgrade to 4.1.  Contact Artisoft for
  29.      information.  If you use a computer that uses IRQ 5 for the
  30.      parallel port, you must define IRQ=5 on the command line
  31.      parameter when loading PE2AILAN.COM.
  32.  
  33.     For example:  PE2AILAN IRQ=5     
  34.  
  35.      Windows for Workgroups - The PE2NDIS.EXE driver which is included 
  36.      with Microsoft's Windows for Workgroups is a version previous to
  37.      the one on this disk.  The version on this disk will also be 
  38.      submitted to Microsoft for certification.  We recommend using the
  39.      driver contained on this disk.
  40.      
  41.      An OEMSETUP.INF file is provided in the \NDIS subdirectory
  42.      of this diskette.  This file will allow you update the PE2NDIS.EXE
  43.      driver that is included with Microsoft's Windows for Workgroups.
  44.      Follow Microsoft's instructions for adding an updated network
  45.      adapter driver.  During this process you will be prompted to
  46.      insert a floppy and type the path for the driver.  Insert this
  47.      diskette and specify the following path:
  48.  
  49.     A:\NDIS
  50.       
  51.      The updated driver will then be copied from the floppy to the local
  52.      hard drive.  Complete the installation according to the Windows for
  53.      Workgroups instructions.

  56.      ODI NOTES
  57.      ---------
  58.      If you are using a NET.CFG configuration file with your ODI driver,
  59.      using "=" is not a valid syntax.
  60.  
  61.     For example, use INT 7 instead of INT=7.
  62.  
  63.      Also, manual selection of the LPT value is not supported.

  66.      PPX NOTES
  67.      ---------
  68.      Software support for the Xircom Parallel Port Multiplexor (PPX) is
  69.      programmed into the DOS drivers provided on the current version of the
  70.      Xircom Network Drivers diskette.  The network device driver will detect 
  71.      whether or not PPX hardware is present.  DO NOT load a separate PPX
  72.      driver (i.e., PPX.COM or PPX.SYS).
  73.  
  74.      When you use the Xircom adapter with a Xircom Parallel Port Multiplexor 
  75.      (PPX) and a printer, be sure that your printer is turned on before 
  76.      you load your network drivers.
  77.      
  78.      The PE2NDIS.OS2 and PE2ODI.OS2 drivers do not support the Xircom Parallel
  79.      Port Multiplexor (PPX).  Local printing is supported under DOS only.

  81.      Some machines with Enhanced Parallel Port (EPP) capability may not
  82.      support EPP mode when used in conjunction with a PPX.

  85.      EPP NOTES
  86.      ---------
  87.      The drivers on this disk support personal computers (PCs) that have 
  88.      Enhanced Parallel Port (EPP) capability.  This new high-speed technology 
  89.      has been incorporated into Intel's new 25Mhz SL chip set in the 82360SL
  90.      I/O controller.  To enable EPP mode on an EPP-capable computer, see your 
  91.      Xircom User's Guide.

  93.      This release contains a newer version of the EPP utility files.
  94.      Please note that the network drivers on this disk MUST be used
  95.      with the EPP utility files on this disk.  The EPP utility files
  96.      on this disk will support previous versions of the network drivers.

  118.      Compaq's SETUP program to change the default LPT port to LPT2.

  121.      DEC NOTES
  122.      ---------
  123.      When using DEC PCSA and the PE2DLL.EXE driver, neither DEC's NCP 
  124.      loop-circuit/node nor the NCP show-line-char/counters command is 
  125.      supported at this time.  LAT services cannot be deleted in LATCP.

  128.      MACHINE-SPECIFIC ISSUES
  129.      -----------------------
  130.      When using the Mitsuba Ninja or the Packard Bell 286 LPV under Novell
  131.      NetWare, interrupt 7A must be disabled by creating a SHELL.CFG file
  132.      which contains the line:   INT7A=OFF
  133.  
  134.      When using the COMPAQ LTE Lite/20 or Lite/25 in EPP mode, run Compaq's
  135.      setup program and change the printer port from LPT1 to LPT2 before
  136.      loading the Xircom EPP utility to enable EPP mode.  When the network 
  137.      driver is loaded, a message will indicate that LPT1 is being used.

  143.      a facsimile to the appropriate number listed below.  Telephone support 
  144.      is available between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday 
  145.      through Friday (Pacific Time in the U.S.A.).  The FAX number may be 
  146.      called 24-hours a day, seven days a week, as may the Xircom INFOSYS 
  147.      Bulletin Board System.  Access the BBS at up to 14400 bps, No parity, 
  148.      8 data bits, 1 stop bit (N-8-1).
